Medicare insurance is there for those age 65 and older or with special circumstances who qualify. Below are the different options to consider for Medicare Insurance coverage. For those new to Medicare, coverage can be applied for up to three months for turning 65.

  • Supplement - Coverage that is secondary to Medicare (Red, White, & Blue card). Helps pay for excess charges that Medicare does not pay. Does not pay for most medications. These plans offer benefits according to letters assigned to the coverage that are associated within the plan, ie “G”, “N”, etc. This is to help eliminate confusion. Any “N” plan for instance is to offer the same benefits as another “N” plan, although the premium can vary.
  • Medicare Advantage (MA) - coverage that supersedes Medicare, therefore Medicare will not be applicable in most cases. Standard MA plans do not cover medications. Some plans offer extra benefits, such as dental and vision.
  • Medicare Advantage with Prescription - coverage that supersedes Medicare, therefore Medicare will not be applicable in most cases. These plans do cover medications. Some plans offer extra benefits, such as dental and vision.
  • Prescription Drugs (Rx) - coverage for prescription medications as prescribed.
  • Dental & Vision - dental and vision coverage may sometimes be included with a plan selection or can be purchased separately.
  • Hearing - hearing aids can be included in some plans, however you should always confirm before choosing. Otherwise hearing may be available for separate purchase.
  • Ancillary (Supplemental) - these are optional coverages to help fill in Gaps, including Accident, Cancer, and Critical Illness
